Our story
Bonito Día Crochet began at a kitchen table in Lima, with a ball of yarn and the same question every maker asks: “why is there no clear pattern for this?”
I started writing my own patterns because the ones I found online either skipped the hard bits or assumed I already knew the answer. So I taught myself to write the kind of pattern I would have wanted as a beginner — with photos for every awkward stitch, notes for the moments where it’s easy to lose count, and a friendly tone that doesn’t make you feel silly for needing to start again.
Everything is designed and tested here in Perú. We write in both English and Spanish because the makers we love are everywhere — from Lima to Madrid to Brooklyn — and a good pattern shouldn’t lose anything in translation.
Each pattern starts as a sketch, then a prototype, then a test crochet. A few makers we trust try it before it’s released. We track every question they ask and we keep adjusting the wording and the photos until those questions stop. That’s when a pattern is ready.
Right now, the shop is mostly amigurumi: kawaii animals, a growing nativity collection (with the Virgen de Guadalupe and the Three Wise Men), and seasonal pieces. Video courses are next — the same gentle, photo-rich style, just with someone narrating beside you.
Browse the shop or say hi — I always love hearing from people who picked up a hook.
